MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Bureau of Criminal Identification is to compile and provide quality, timely computerized criminal history information to assist criminal justice agencies and the public in the identification, detection and apprehension of the criminal element.

Objectives:

• We serve Law Enforcement and other Criminal Justice agencies throughout the State of Utah.
• We produce the annual "Crime in Utah" collection of statistics related to various crimes and crime trends in Utah.
• Issue Concealed Firearm Permits.
• Provide background checks on handgun purchasers.
• Provide latent fingerprint comparisons.
• Act as Utah's Missing Persons Clearinghouse.
• Provide Statewide Criminal Justice training.
