On January 6, 1956, a teenager found the badly decomposed body of a newborn baby girl in Cottonwood Creek Canyon, just outside of Murray City limits. She appeared to be less than 24 hours old, about 2 or 3 weeks premature. It was determined the baby likely entered the icy creek while dead, and could have been there for up to a month. There were no signs of trauma or violence to the body. Baby Jane Doe was buried in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
