Closed 6/28/2024 Suspect Douglas K. Chudomelka

On March 2, 1973, Ann Woodward was strangled to death in her bar, Woody’s, after closing. Evidence collected at that scene by the Grand County Sheriff’s Office and additional evidence collected by a Moab Police Department Detective conducting the investigation in the following days was recently re-evaluated and sent for DNA testing.

The DNA results positively identified Douglas K. Chudomelka as a local mine worker at the time.

This case was entered into the LE Cold Case Database on 2/10/2020 per legislature bill 160, “Rosie’s Bill.”

This case was presented by Moab PD in front of The Utah Cold Case Review Board on 10/19/2023
