Alvarez was driving with two women and a 2-year-old boy. The child had to use the bathroom, so Alvarez stopped and got out of the car with him.

As they stood next to a tree at 910 W. 100 South, a Bronco drove up and two men with guns jumped out and started shooting. None of the bullets hit the little boy. Alvarez was struck and fell to the ground.
